Terms of Service — Light of Hope Inc.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of lightofhopecares.org (the "Site"), operated by Light of Hope Inc. ("Light of Hope," "we," "us," or "our"), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 26-3737510). By using the Site, making a donation, or sponsoring, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. About Light of Hope Inc.

Light of Hope Inc. is a nonprofit organization supporting children and families in need. In the United States, we guide newcomers as they settle in, helping them understand American systems and daily life. In Africa, we build schools, latrines, and clean-water access for children in conflict-affected communities. The Site exists to share our work and to accept donations and sponsorships that fund it.

2. Donations

You may make a one-time donation or set up a recurring monthly donation through the Site. Donations are processed in U.S. dollars by third-party payment processors (currently Stripe and Zeffy). By setting up a recurring donation, you authorize us and our payment processors to charge your chosen payment method each month until you cancel. You may cancel a recurring donation at any time through your account or by contacting us; cancellation takes effect at the next billing cycle.

3. Sponsorships

We offer monthly sponsorship tiers: Hope ($25/month), Care ($50/month), and Full Sponsorship ($100/month). Sponsorship contributions support our programs for children, including meals, schooling, shelter, and basic care. Sponsorship gifts fund our programs generally and are not a direct payment to a named individual child. Monthly sponsorship billing continues until you cancel, and cancellation takes effect at the next billing cycle. You may sponsor with or without creating an account.

4. Refunds

Donations and sponsorship gifts are generally final and non-refundable. If you believe you made an error — for example, a wrong amount or a duplicate gift — please contact us promptly at info@lightofhopecares.org with the date, amount, and email address used, and we will review your request.

5. Tax deductibility

Light of Hope Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We provide receipts by email after each gift. Tax laws vary by situation; please consult your tax advisor about your own deductibility.

6. Accounts

If you create an account to manage sponsorships or view your giving history, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use of your account. We may suspend or close accounts that misuse the Site.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Site for any unlawful purpose, to interfere with or disrupt the Site, to attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, or to misrepresent your identity or affiliation. You agree not to copy, scrape, or redistribute Site content except as permitted by law or with our written permission.

8. Intellectual property

The content of the Site — including text, images, graphics, and the Light of Hope name and logo — is owned by Light of Hope Inc. or used with permission, and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may view and share Site content for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

9. Third-party services and links

Donations are processed by Stripe and Zeffy, whose own terms and privacy policies apply to the payment step. The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, terms, or privacy practices of third-party sites.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Light of Hope Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
